Barcelona is a vibrant global city of stunning architecture, world-class museums, bustling markets, colorful parks, and high-end fashion. Walkable and welcoming, a good starting point is Montjuïc Castle for panoramic views, near the Joan Miró and Catalonian National Art museums.
Spend a day wandering the 12th- and 13th-century Gothic Quarter or exploring the Museu Picasso. Yet Barcelona is best known for Antoni Gaudí’s imprint—from the iconic La Sagrada Família to the whimsical Park Güell. More of his work lines tree-shaded La Rambla, a famous promenade perfect for architecture, designer shopping, and tapas.

The capital of the Balearic Islands, Palma is famed for La Seu, the Cathedral of Santa Maria overlooking the bay. Nearby, the Almudaina Palace has been a royal residence since the 14th century, and Gothic Bellver Castle houses the city’s history museum. Art lovers can visit the Juan March Foundation Museum, home to 70 key 20th-century Spanish avant-garde works.
Beaches offer water sports, sailing, and horseback riding, while Avenue Jaime III and Passeig del Born are shopping highlights. Beyond Palma, Mallorca charms with sites like George Sand and Chopin’s former retreat and the spectacular Cuevas del Drach stalactites.

Approaching Menorca reveals white houses clinging to rocks and a historic town overlooking one of the world’s largest natural harbors, in use since the 3rd century BC. King Island, halfway in, features ruins of a 6th-century basilica.
Menorca’s streets mix ancient treasures, like the San Roque Arch and Museu de Menorca relics, with Georgian homes from the British occupation. Its history shines in local cuisine, including Menorca cheese and the island’s claim as mayonnaise’s birthplace. Hiking or biking the Cami de Cavalls offers stunning scenery, while the island’s megalithic monuments provide a glimpse into its distant past.
Arrival: 10:00am
Departure: 9:00pm
A jetsetter haven, Saint-Tropez is famed for designer shopping, nightlife, and chic beach clubs like Le Club 55 and Nikki Beach. French screen icon Brigitte Bardot popularized the bikini here in the 1950s and still calls it home.
Beyond the glamour, the hills above the beachfront reveal a different side: narrow cobblestone streets and a 17th-century citadel offering stunning port views.
Arrival: 8:00am
Departure: 10:00pm
Few ports welcome luxury yachts like Monte Carlo, home to some of the world’s most spectacular vessels. This playground for the rich and famous dazzles with yachts, luxury cars, and winding streets hosting the annual Grand Prix.
Verdant mountains rise behind lavish high-rises, while the cliff-top Palace of the Prince stages the daily Changing of the Guard. Nearby, the Cathedral of Monaco holds Princess Grace’s tomb, the Oceanographic Museum was founded by Prince Albert I, and the Monte Carlo Casino—established by Prince Charles III—offers glamour and high-stakes excitement.
Arrival: 8:00am
Departure: 4:00pm
This postcard-perfect destination, with pastel houses encircling the port, is among Italy’s most photographed. Beyond the scenery, explore the 12th-century Church of St. George and medieval Castello Brown for stunning harbor views. A scenic hike or short boat ride leads to the restored 11th-century abbey at San Fruttuoso.
Northwest lies Genoa, rich in museums, palaces, and the grand Cathedral of San Lorenzo. Portofino is also just an hour from the Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage site of five colorful cliffside villages.
Arrival: 7:00am
