Ancient forts

Ranthambore Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, protected by sheer cliffs and dotted with Jain and Hindu temples. A short drive away, the ruins of Khandar Fort belie a millennium of history. Explore these fascinating sites with a personal guide, then enjoy a picnic lunch in a secluded setting.

A clean shave and the art of henna

Beneath a tree in a secluded part of the camp, men can enjoy an open-air shave in the traditional Indian fashion by Roop, the camp’s resident barber. Local women demonstrate delicate and temporary henna skin art, traditionally applied to the hands, arms and feet of brides-to-be.

Ride with the Royals of the Past

Embark on a horse safari astride a Marwari horse, a rare breed from the Marwar (Jodhpur) region prized by the Rajput royals. This is a taste of Rajasthan’s regal past and pride, immersing you in the history, culture and unspoilt terrain of this Land of Kings.

Khandar fort trek

A 90-minute drive from camp lies the once-majestic Khandar Fort. Take the narrow winding goat track to the cliff’s edge and explore ancient fort dwellings, temples, and stepwells. Catch a glimpse of local shepherds, before enjoying your lunch with a breathtaking view over the ravines.

Chambal river cruise

A leisurely cruise up the perennial Chambal River will let you spot a variety of birds, water turtles and possibly the elusive gharial, a critically endangered crocodile. End the cruise with lunch at a wonderful look-out point, before returning to camp for a well-deserved drink around the central fireplace.

Wildlife safaris

Join experts Valmik Thapar and Fateh Singh Rathore on twice-daily tiger safaris to spot these majestic animals, alongside crocodiles, leopards, jackals, sambar deer and some 300 species of birds. Alternatively, take in the surrounding terrain from the superior vantage of a camel’s back.
